
Anita Lobel has also illustrated the children’s books of other authors, most notably the works of her first husband, Arnold Lobel, with whom she has two children. Lobel is known for her colorful illustrations and picture books including Allison’s Zinnia, Away from Home, So Happy and One Light, One Moon, winner of a New York Times Best Illustrated Book award and the first of three children’s books featuring her cat, Nini. The collection was donated in late 2015 by Anita Lobel in honor of Ginger Shuler and Leslie Tetreault. In addition to her prominent successes in the United States, Anita’s books have been published in French, German, Japanese, and Korean editions. Anita attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, worked as a textile designer, and published her first book for children, SVEN’S BRIDGE, in 1965.
