And that he had brought few of his friends together. I do understand that Gerald was interested in amateur involvement in crime-solving. Third is the Seven Dials organisation itself. Second, it was never mentioned why Ronny had doubts on Jimmy and that Jimmy found out that. But it was never mentioned that Jimmy actually knew about the organisation or that Gerald was a part of it. Battle say that it was done by Ronny to tell that Seven Dials would take revenge on the killer. It couldn't have been before the death was discovered by the butler, nor after since he had locked the room by then. Overall 6/10.įirstly, I do not understand how and when Ronald had went to Gerald's room to arrange the clocks on the mantelpiece and throw one out of the window. I could predict the killer, atleast had a rough guess by about the second half. Though it starts of well, it is not as engaging and there seem to be many characters in the book. There is a lot of youth, and few comic scenes as well. The plot is nothing new, there are few instances of brilliant reasoning and a lot of characters. The setting is nothing new, and the story flow a combination of Ackroyd and Why Didn't they ask Evans. It is more of a thriller than a classic mystery. Non-spoiler review- It involves young men dying, poisoning, shootouts and is more active than other Christies. I would say it falls quite short of the amazing Ackroyd book. It was recommended as Ackroydesque by a kind redditor.

I read The Seven Dials Mystery (non-Poirot, non-Marple) book today.
